On Friday 11th August, for the twelfth consecutive year, Swanley and North Downs Lions are running a charity bicycle event at Brands Hatch, on the famous 1.2 mile Indy Circuit. Track entry will be from 6.30 p.m. until approximately 8.30 p.m., but it is not a race, and participants set their own target for the number of laps they wish to attempt. Cyclists of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part, but they are asked to get themselves sponsored, or make a donation of at least £15 (£5 for those who are 14 or under), payable when registering if not sponsored for more The “lion’s share” of the money raised, after event expenses, will be given to the ‘ellenor’ team who support both adults and children who have a life threatening or life limiting illness, and their families. The remainder will be used, by the Lions, to help folk who are in very real need for other reasons. HMTBC Go-Ride sessions are designed for under 12s to experience some coaching and racing at the London 2012 Olypmic MTB Track. Each event will have a maximum of 30 riders split into 2 groups of age and ability who will, after a brief introduction, clothing and bike check; be coached by one of our BC Level 2 coaches before a series of races around our shortened version of the Olympic Track.
