Rochester HSBC-UK National Circuit Race Championships

I hope this finds you well, & looking forward to a great month of Cycling Events in the region. This July we have a great opportunity at raising the profile of Cycling in the South East – exciting times!

As you may know, we have recently announced that the HSBC-UK | National Circuit Race Championships will benefit from a Club FRRE Ride mass participation event on the Sunday 21st July, ahead of the Medway Big Ride and Elite Women’s & Men’s races.  This is a great way of getting new people into cycling, and a chance to ride on fully closed roads which is rare in the busy South East.  We are working together with Medway Sport to help recruit some extra  volunteers for the day, and to bring in a local feel and representation of the Clubs in Medway and the surrounding areas.

I’d like to ask for your support in sharing the Clubs FREE Ride a little more directly, and personally with your local club / cycling networks, so we can fill this up and make it look great.  We have 300 slots available for young riders, and 400 for adults.  Pre-Registration is essential and the link is here.  This is NOT a race, but a chance to ride with friends and be part of a great event.

I also have some more key info available to you on the three main roles we need (attached) to support the range of activities on the Sunday afternoon.  In the description you will see that all volunteers will receive a FREE Lunch from Kings School & all day Volunteers will also receive a FREE T-shirt.  Ideally we would like people from 10:00 to 20:00, but would also welcome AM or PM slots too.  If you’re keen to help out or would like to get involved to promote your club please contact myself or Helen Steel at Medway Sport on helen.steel@medway.gov.uk to find out more.

Our Go-Ride team will be onsite delivering Kids Coaching, and learn to ride activities so we would love some help from local Club Coaches – this is a great chance to drive recruitment locally – so please contact Tim Sales if you are keen. TimSales@britishcycling.org.uk

If you’d like any further info on the Event Please see the links below, or contact our Regional Events Officer Phil Webber PhilWebber@britishcycling.org.uk

London BMX series Rd 3 – Merton

A great day of racing again by Club Cyclopark. The now not-so-Novice group of Akhyn, Noah, Poppy and Isabella took the latest round in their stride. All performed extremely well but racer of the day has to go to Holly racing for the first time! Again inspiring us all with his track speed and super smooth riding was Ollie, flying the flag for H.O.T. Line Racing.

Shout out to David Gardner for the photos. I hadn’t charged my phone on the drive over. Turns out his camera and eye for a shot is better than mine anyway 🙂 .

Next round is July 21st, hoping for some more racers to join us for sure.

Club Committee Update

Following the recent Club AGM, I’m pleased to announce that there are several new members on the committee. Pippa takes on the role of BMX Parent Rep, Jon takes on the role of Mountain Bike group Parent Rep, and Gary takes on the role of Road group Parent Rep. I’ll try and get photos of all the committee on the website to aid recognition for members.

Adult Mountain bike group

Tuesday night has seen the return of the adult mountain bike group. Meeting at Jeskyns Community Woodland cafe for a 6.45pm departure should give us enough time to get into Cobham and surrounding areas. Bring lights as we may get back after dark.
